Art you can wear

You never know what kind of parent you need to be till you meet your baby. Like many parents, I thought I had definite ideas about what my baby will need and what kind of mother I will be. Once my baby was born and the hormones took over I realised my baby wants me to be a parent that promotes close attachments. My gut instinct was to hold my baby when he cried, let him direct when he wanted to feed and sleep. I have now come to know that the term for this kind of parenting is called Attachment Parenting as advocated by the famous Dr Sears. It has also been called natural parenting.

  Attachment Parenting - Baby Wearing

Kangaroo Care: It's Not Just for Premies Anymore. "Kangaroo care" - the name given to holding your infant skin-to-skin. It is proven that this facilitates breastfeeding, reduces crying and stress, and promotes essential bonding. "Kangaroo care" is attachment parenting. It is promotes to all couples babies and for newborns, especially when there are breastfeeding difficulties or with mums experiencing anxiety or depression.

The benefits of Attachment Parenting and Babywearing are numerous and exciting. I have witnessed first hand babies that have grown into healthy happy children who cry little and settle easily feeling secure that they are part of a special family. In my baby wearing journey I have tried, used and owned many carriers for many different situations, but the Mei Tai or Asian Type baby carrier, as it is also known, is the most versatile and comfortable for all members of the family to use.

When you wear your baby, the baby bonds to you through touch and smell. Holding him/her close through the use of a CuddleClose Mei Tai you create opportunities for this bonding. This, in turn, enhances your sensitivity to his/her needs.

The understanding of his/her language also increases because of this constant and close contact. A CuddleClose Mei Tai helps to calm and soothe the baby and to reduce the baby's stress level and a walk in the carrier is an excellent way to put a child to sleep. A CuddleClose Mei Tai evenly distributes your baby's weight across your back and shoulders, leaving your hands free. Toddlers appreciate the security of carriers, as well - they can snuggle close and feel safe and secure with the bond growing stronger. A baby in a CuddleClose Mei Tai is protected from the unwanted touches of strangers or from germs, and with your baby in a CuddleClose Mei Tai, you always know where they are. Right there with you!

The advantages of carrying a baby in a Mei Tai

The cuddle close mei tai allows your baby to sit in the carrier rather than dangle form the crotch as most commercial carriers do, thus avoiding spinal stress.

The wide seat encloses the newborn baby close to your chest and allows you to carry a tired 3 year old on your back , all with the one carrier. Many other carriers are not suitable for newborns or older children or even the back carry. The CuddleClose Mei Tai will take you through all stages of your child without straining your back.

The CuddleClose Mei Tai has wide straps that are easy to adjust to all users without complicated ties or buckles of any kind. The all natural fabrics soften with wear like a favorite pair of jeans. The wider the straps on your Cuddle Close Mei Tai  the more weight is distributed for heavier babies and allows you to carry your baby for a much longer time (hours in our household) or short walks.

Due to the design, your baby actually sits on your hips as if you were carrying them on your arms rather than dangling from your shoulders causing muscle strain and spinal stress to you and baby. Because of the ease of putting on and taking off you never have to worry about transferring a sleeping child again its as easy as untying and laying down as if they have fallen asleep in your arms. It is often handy to have the CuddleClose Mei Tai in the bottom of your nappy bag and if you have a spare pair of hands you can actually tie the CuddleClose Mei Tai on with a sleeping child in your arms and transfer the weight and allow them to continue sleeping. Try doing that with some other carrier.
